Copper Stubs

Precision-engineered copper stubs and customized headers deliver leak-proof refrigerant pathways for reliable, long-lasting HVAC performance.

"Small Components. Critical Connection.”

If you’ve ever worked on HVAC headers, you know the connections have to be right. A sloppy joint or a poorly sized stub and you’re looking at leaks, flow problems, and callbacks nobody wants. Our copper stubs are built to take that worry off the table. They’re made from refrigeration-grade copper, sized accurately, and designed to join up cleanly with refrigerant piping so everything flows the way it should. Whether you’re building headers for VRF systems, heat pumps, chillers, or commercial refrigeration, these stubs give you a solid, reliable connection point that holds up over the life of the system.

227 Enterprise makes them in OD sizes from 1/4″ to 5/8″ with wall thicknesses from 0.5 mm to 0.9 mm, so there’s enough range to fit most header designs and OEM specs. Every stub goes through quality checks for dimensional accuracy before it ships — because a fraction of a millimeter matters when you’re brazing joints and expecting them to stay leak-free for years. If you’ve got a custom requirement or a specific OEM drawing, we can work to that too. At the end of the day, a copper stub is a simple part, but when it’s made right, it makes the whole system easier to build and more dependable to run. That’s what we’re aiming for with every piece we produce.

Why 227 Enterprise

Copper stubs don’t get a lot of attention — they’re small, they’re tucked inside header assemblies, and most people never think about them twice. But anyone who’s dealt with a bad connection inside a header knows how quickly a small part can turn into a big problem. That’s exactly why we take them seriously.

We make every stub from refrigeration-grade copper, hold tight tolerances on dimensions, and run quality checks that don’t leave room for guesswork. The result is a part that fits right the first time, brazes cleanly, and keeps refrigerant flowing smoothly for the life of the system. Whether it’s going into a VRF header, a heat pump, a chiller, or a refrigeration rack, our stubs give you the kind of connection you can stop worrying about once it’s in.

Product Faqs

Where do copper stubs actually go in a heat pump system?

They're used inside customized header assemblies and refrigerant distribution sections — basically wherever you need to connect multiple refrigerant lines to the main system components. In multi-circuit heat pump designs, stubs help create compact, well-organized piping layouts that keep everything clean and connected without turning the header into a mess of fittings.

Why does wall thickness matter on something this small?

Because it affects everything that matters — how strong the joint is, how well it brazes, whether it can handle system pressure over time, and how long it lasts in service. Too thin and you risk failure. Too thick and it gets harder to work with and doesn't braze as cleanly. We offer thicknesses from 0.5 mm to 0.9 mm so you can pick what actually fits your application instead of making do with whatever's available.

Can you customize stubs for a specific header design?

Absolutely. We do it all the time. If you've got an OEM drawing, a particular header layout, or connection requirements that don't match off-the-shelf sizes, send them over. We'll manufacture to your specs so the stubs integrate exactly the way your design needs them to.

How do these stubs actually help system performance?

It comes down to two things: accurate dimensions and smooth internal surfaces. When a stub fits precisely and the inside is clean, refrigerant flows through without turbulence or restriction. That means fewer installation headaches, more consistent operation, and one less variable that could cause trouble down the line. It's not glamorous, but it's the kind of detail that separates a system that runs well from one that doesn't.

What material are 227 Enterprise copper stubs made from, and does it really make a difference?

Yes, it does. We use refrigeration-grade copper — not generic tubing or whatever happens to be cheapest that week. Refrigeration-grade copper is cleaner, more consistent, and specifically suited for systems where the refrigerant has to stay uncontaminated and the joints have to hold under pressure and temperature cycling. Cheaper copper can have impurities that weaken braze joints or contaminate the refrigerant over time, and that's not a risk worth taking on a part that's buried inside a header where you'll never easily get to it again.
